Axio360 provides powerful benchmarking capabilities to evaluate the maturity of non-test assessments within the same assessment type on the platform (for example, the CRI Profile V2.1 Maturity Model Tier 3). Institutions can leverage this benchmarking data to compare their current and target assessment maturity levels with those of peer organizations using the same framework. All benchmarking data is fully anonymized and drawn from an aggregated dataset built on rigorous inclusion standards.
To ensure data integrity and statistical validity, Axio360 applies a strict set of filters before any assessment is included in the benchmarking population.
Once all criteria are met, benchmarks appear in the benchmarking widget on each assessment's dashboard. You can view benchmarks for the assessment as a whole, or broken down by Function/Domain.
The Assessment Score Benchmark Comparison dashboard widget shows your overall Current Score and Target Score, compared to your peers (companies in the same industry and revenue band). It shows both the Overall Assessment Score and the progress of scores broken down by Function/Domain.
Why Do Point Totals Differ Across Functions/Domains?
When viewing the By Function/Domain breakdown, you may notice that each Function or Domain has a different maximum point value. This is expected, and here is why:
Axio360 measures assessment progress through Diagnostic Statements, the individual questions that make up an assessment. Every Diagnostic Statement is scored equally, with full credit given only for qualifying "Yes" responses (no partial credit is given for "Partial," "No," or "Not Applicable" answers).
Because each Function or Domain contains a different number of Diagnostic Statements, each one carries a different share of the assessment's total possible points. A Function or Domain with more Diagnostic Statements will have a higher maximum point value than one with fewer. This is true across assessment model types, though the specific point scale varies by model, for example, some models normalize the overall score to a fixed total and divide it proportionally across Functions/Domains, while others use a running point total based on the number of Diagnostic Statements answered.
Because these maximums vary by Function/Domain, we include percentage scores for comparison when evaluating progress across Functions/Domains or against benchmarks and targets. The percentage already accounts for each Function or Domain's unique maximum, so it remains the consistent basis for comparison regardless of the underlying assessment model or point scale.
Population and Score Requirements
Before an assessment's data can be included in the anonymous benchmarking population (the pool of peer assessments your scores are compared against), it must meet all of the following requirements:
- Minimum 10 Companies: at least 10 distinct companies must remain in the population after all exclusionary filters are applied
- 10% concentration cap: No single company's assessments may represent more than 10% of the eligible benchmarking population
- 70% completion threshold: assessments must be at least 70% complete to qualify for inclusion in the benchmark dataset
- Timeframe: at least one response must be created or updated within the last two years to remain eligible
- No demo or test assessments: titles containing "demo," "test," "testing," "example," or "template" are automatically excluded
Benchmark Calculation Methodology and NA Response Handling
All assessment data is stored and processed by a unique identifier (UID), ensuring that response data pulled for benchmarking calculations never includes the assessment name, preserving full anonymization throughout the process.
Not Applicable response handling and calculation methodology respect the scoring methodology dictated by the assessment model type, in other words, the same rules used to score your own assessment (including how "Not Applicable" responses to Diagnostic Statements are treated) are applied consistently when calculating benchmarks. See Security Assessment Scoring for more details.
Getting Started
Ready to get started? There are several pathways to enter your assessment data and begin comparing your institution with peers. Assessments can be securely shared with both internal teams and external collaborators outside your organization's domain.
- Create a New Assessment: Start from scratch directly within the Axio360 platform, building your assessment step by step.
- Import an Existing Assessment: quickly upload your data using Axio's pre-formatted Excel template for efficient bulk updates and offline editing.
- Assessment-to-Assessment Mapping: utilize Axio's templates, create your own, or leverage peer-created mappings to align different assessment frameworks.
- Leverage Axio's API: Seamlessly connect your existing systems of record to Axio360 for automated data flow and integrations.
